Craps

Craps can be one of the easiest or most difficult games in the casino; land-based and online alike. There are many rules, but fundamentally a player needs a basic understanding of the game in order to be competent enough at the Craps table. It is a fast and exciting game that brings about imagery of clamor, glamour and the chance to win high stakes at the simple roll of the dice. Fundamentally, the game is played by several players with one of them rolling the dice. His player is called the shooter. The shooter rolls the dice while the rest of the players bet on the outcome of the roll.

The shooters first roll in the game is called the ‘come out roll.’ Before the shooter ‘casts’ his first roll, the rest of the players place bets. These bets are called the ‘pass line bets.’ When the first roll is made, pass line bets become winners if the ‘come out’ roll is 7 or 11. On the other hand, if the come out roll is 2, 3 or 12, the bets are automatically lost. Numbers which include the following series (4, 5, 6, 8, and 10) and are rolled as a part of the ‘come out’ roll are called the ‘point.’ If the shooter rolls one of these numbers (the point), he/she must keep on rolling the dice until either the number identified as the point or a 7 comes up. If the point comes up before 7, all pass line bets win! If the opposite happens, all the pass line bets become duds.

Basic Bets and odds in Craps:

Pass Line Bets: Payoff is 1 to 1

Bets made in the pass line will be victorious if the ‘come out’ roll is 7 or 11 and lose if the ‘come out’ is 2, 3 or 12. If a number other than these emerges, it becomes the ‘point.’ The Pass Line bets will win if the shooter’s next roll produces the ‘point’ before a 7 and will consequently lose if a 7 comes up before the point.

Don’t Pass Line Bets: Payoff is 1 to 1

This type of bet is directly opposite to the Pass Line Bet. Here the player betting looks for a 2 or 3 roll in order to win. If the ‘come out’ is 12, then the bet becomes a ‘push.’ Here the player will get his money back. In the online world of Craps, the Don’t Pass Line is situated directly behind the Pass Line Bets region. If any other number except 2, 3, 7, 11 or 12 appears on the roll, it becomes the ‘point.’ Accordingly, if a 7 is rolled the player wins and if opposite, the player loses. One thing that may encourage players to try their hand at Craps is the fact that bets can be added as play goes on.

Come Bets:

These bets are very similar to Don’t Pass Line Bets. Once more, players place their bets after the preliminary ‘come out’ roll is made. The point is recognized and if the outcome is 2 or 3, the bet is successful. If the come out is a 7 or 11, then it is a loss. The push is once again present if a 12 is rolled the first time. 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 become the point. Bets can win if the shooters next role produces a 7 before the point and lose if the contrary happens. The difference between this type of betting and the Don’t Pass Line Bets is that bets can only be made after the initial roll or ‘come out.’

Another way of playing Craps is by ‘Single Betting.’ This entails betting on single rolls which include specific numbers such as the numbers of Craps (2,3,12), betting on 7, doubles etc. These are long shot bets and thus comprise of hefty winning odds.

All in all, Craps is one of the classic casino games where excitement, thriller, zest and concentration is needed to become victorious. It is an engaging game that can make hours feel as minutes. If you are a player who needs the adrenalin fix now and then, this is the perfect game to take a shot at. Begin slowly by understanding how the bets work and the odds at hand. After that, Craps is as east as pie.
