Blackjack

"The popular game"

Blackjack has established itself as one of the most popular casino card games in the world. The game originated in France during the 1700’s, which then travelled to America, where it gained much of its popularity in Las Vegas. Known also as 21, Blackjack offers a monumental mix of luck and skill. Although many believe Blackjack to be a complicated game, it is in fact quit simple. Beginners and amateurs are of the same nature as the aim of the game is to get 21 or a higher value of cards than the dealer. All it takes is some chips and good old fashion luck!

How to Play

The objective in Blackjack is to try to beat the dealer by getting closer to a value of 21. If the total value of your cards is closer to 21 than the dealer's, you win as much as you have bet. If the total of your cards is over 21, you'll bust and lose your bet. If you have the same card total as the dealer, from 17 and up, no one wins and you get your bet back in a push.

At the beginning of each hand, the dealer deals 2 cards to each player, including himself and players can thereafter take more. One of the dealer’s 2 cards is dealt face up. The face down card is called a “hole card”. In European Blackjack, the “hole card” is not dealt until all the players at the table have played their hands. The value of a card is easy to determine as cards from 2 to 10 are worth their face value. The face cards (king, queen and jack) are also worth ten. The only card in Blackjack that serves a double value is the ace. The ace’s value is 11, but if it were to cause a bust, the value of the card would then be 1.

A 2-card hand with a total of 21 (Ace plus a ten-value card) is called a “Blackjack”. The hand is an automatic winner, unless the dealer also has Blackjack, in which case the hand then becomes a “push”. A player’s turn ends when he/she decides to stand, decides to double down, or busts. After the players have finished making their decisions, the dealer then reveals his hidden card. According to Blackjack rules, the dealer must hit himself until he/she attains a total of 17. If the dealer happens to bust, all the players automatically win.

Blackjack Variants:

There are many variants of Blackjack, each with its own set of rules. The most common Blackjack variants include Vegas style Blackjack, European Blackjack, Spanish Blackjack and Double Exposure Blackjack. In Spanish Blackjack, players can double down on any number of cards, with the option to ‘rescue’, or ‘surrender’ only one wager to the house). In Double Exposure Blackjack, both the dealer’s cards are dealt face up, which allows players to view the value of the dealer’s cards.

In more recent times the game has become a hit on the online gaming market. The convenience of betting via a computer screen with superb graphical images attracts the largest of crowds. The variations for online Blackjack are immense and have great payouts following. Gone are the days of going into a casino buying chips, sitting with a dealer in a tense state and cashing whatever remaining chips or winnings you have. Online Blackjack is safe and secure and promises an abundant experience. Players can play Blackjack on the flash casino; with games which do not require any space on the user’s machine, or on the downloaded casino software with full features which poses a real hit with enthusiasts.
